About the Author
Ian Jones, the author, is highly qualified in survival due to his first hand experiences with power outages, earthquakes, and cyclones. These experiences have shaped his understanding and knowledge in disaster preparedness. He endured the 6 week 1998 Auckland power blackout, experienced the 2011 Christchurch earthquake at the epicentre and gained valuable insights into the challenges and realities of surviving in such situations. Moving to Tonga, he faced multiple cyclones, including Cyclone Ian, Cyclone Winston, and Cyclone Gita, which further reinforced his "realistic prepper" mindset.
His message is that there was never any warning, events can just happen and that most people are caught off guard. Your best defense if to plan and prepare, that way you have options.
